This is Part 1 of a 2 part story. I’ve just finished putting the finishing touches on my 30/30 Marketing Matrix and SMART Marketing System version 2.1. It’s a really cool product and I’m very excited about it. I haven’t seen anything on the market quite like it, and I think it is going to be extremely helpful to anyone who wants to crack the code on how to get page 1 rankings on Google for their search terms.
I’ve paid tens of thousands of dollars to be in a ton of Internet Marketing programs, some are good and some not so good, but the cumulative knowledge I gained from all of those as well as my own playing around, led me to create a system of 30 different marketing activities that anyone can use for any business to get online using cheap or free websites and get Google Page 1 ranking without breaking their necks or the bank.
This system is a shortcut system, but is totally white hat. You create great content that people will appreciate and you get rewarded for it with high rankings for your search terms on Google.
Evolution of an Info Product
The evolution of the product is kind of cool. It started out in Las Vegas in July of 2008 at a real estate workshop I presented at with my friend Bob Leonetti. Bob challenged me, “since you’re the marketing guy and all” to come up with several FREE marketing strategies that real estate investors could use to get more business.
You have to understand Bob and my relationship to appreciate that this challenge was issued in the back of the workshop room with only about 10 minutes notice and I was quickly called to the stage shortly thereafter to actually present and talk about the strategies I had just concocted in my head.
The presentation went well and people really seemed to appreciate this sort of “missing link” to their real estate investing and marketing, and at the next workshop in September, I had honed the strategies into 30 different categories of really powerful and proven marketing action steps.
At the September workshop, I also introduced a way to track how well you are getting to all of the marketing activities you promise yourself you are going to do. That was the birth of the Marketing Tracking Sheet, which is a 30 column by 30 row MicroSoft Excel spreadsheet that has all 30 of the marketing categories at the top row and then Days 1 - 30 along the left side column.
The Tracking Sheet was a HUGE hit at the workshop and people all asked for a copy so they could use it in their own marketing. I gave copies to everyone who attended the workshop at no cost to them, along with the roughly 23 page outline of marketing activities. It looked like this might be something people would buy.
Things Start To Get Interesting
At the September 08 workshop in Austin, one of the attendees was a teacher and promoter from Houston named Dennis Arocho. Dennis is a wonderful man who really cares about his students and strives very hard to give them excellent value. Dennis also really knows his real estate stuff and has a tremendous amount of knowledge to offer anyone interested in real estate investing.
Anyway, Dennis was at the workshop and saw my presentation on what had by then been named the 30/30 Marketing Matrix after the 30 categories of action steps and the 30 day implementation tracking sheet that I created around it. Dennis asked me if I would mind speaking at his upcoming event in Houston in October, which was the Texas Foreclosure Expo.
I was more than excited to be asked to speak at Dennis’s event, especially since Bob Leonetti spoke so highly of him and since I had the opportunity to have dinner with Dennis in Austin and really enjoyed his company. So, I agreed.
Under the Gun To Create a Product
As it turned out, I was one of the featured speakers and was given the opportunity to speak to the whole room instead of just a breakout session at the Texas Foreclosure Expo, and when you are a featured speaker, the promoters like for you to have something to sell to give the attendees more opportunity to have resources available and also to generate revenue to support the workshop.
The only problem was that I did not really have anything to sell. I had my 30/30 Marketing Matrix, but it was pretty thin at under 30 pages, and I did not have a PowerPoint presentation. I was now, the night before the day I was supposed to speak, under the proverbial gun. Oh, did I mention I was scheduled to speak first thing in the morning!
