Free Google Sitemap Creation Resource Worth Adding to Your SEO Arsenal

I just created a Google sitemap for one of my sites and wanted to share the free tool I used to do it with you. If you visit SiteMapsPal.com, the nice folks there will instantly create an XML Sitemap for you. Then, you just copy the code their site generates and paste it into a NotePad file, which you then save as “sitemap.xml”

Next, FTP the sitemap file you just created to the root directory of your website (I use the wonderful free FileZilla program for this).

At this point, you’re halfway there, so hang in just a bit longer, okay? Alright, you’ve now created and uploaded your sitemap, so all you have to do next is let Google know about it, and then you’re done.

Go to Google’s WebMaster Tools page and login. If you don’t already have a Google account, you really should get one. You can do that here. Once there, I clicked on sitemaps and typed in my web address. It was really very easy and straightforward. I verified my ownership of the site, but you don’t have to if you just want to upload and submit a sitemap.

Next, I followed the steps to submit the sitemap, and that was it. A few minutes later, upon checking in with the site again, I found that Google had received and reviewed my submission, and I was rewarded with 47 more URLs telling Google that my site is deserving of page 1 search results.

Creating and submitting your sitemap is really easy, and there are lots of advantages to it.
